Juicy Juicness at Home!

So, after talking about it for like a good year or two, we decided to purchase a juicer this week and let me tell you: it was totally worth it!!!  We've already used it a few times since purchasing it on Monday and we're loving the results!

After a bunch of research and figuring out what was locally available we decided on the Omega 8005 Nutrition Center Masticating Juicer.  It makes juice (duh), and baby food, and pasta, and apparently ice cream (though we love our ice cream maker by Cuisinart), and a handful of other things!  The guy at the store says it's the champion of home juicers and I totally believe him.  It gets the most amount of nutrition (fiber, juice, etc) out of the fruits and veggies compared to a centrifugal juicer (like the Breville which I went in intending to buy).

Juicing is not only super yummy, but healthy in so many ways.  Fresh juicing allows you to get all the amazing enzymes and phytonutrients out of your fruits and veggies easily and quickly.  It gives your digestive system a rest when you replace solids with it for any period of time (which of course I wouldn't do at this point because of my pregnancy) and it aids your detox system by picking up toxins in your system and flushing them out upon their exit.

Most importantly though it's a delicious and fun way to use up all the fruits and veggies in your fridge that aren't going to otherwise get eaten!  Avi is having a great time helping me juice up yummy concoctions.  This morning we made some strawberry, pineapple, and cucumber juices for all of us.  Yesterday afternoon we did plain pineapple and cucumbers.  Later we're thinking a green juice of some sort as we've got tons of kale in the fridge!

Do any of you juice at home?  What are your favorite combinations? Any recipe ideas for us?!?
